‘Siyazenzela is a great program which has changed how I feel and care about myself and the environment, and how I respect it.’

Wilderness Foundation Africa is pleased to have once again partnered with LC Supports Foundation and LC Packaging South Africa in empowering ten young people from communities around Pietermaritzburg to become financially independent and environmentally responsible citizens.

The ten beneficiaries selected to participate in the Siyazenzela training course were recruited with the assistance from Dlalanathi and the Nathi Foundation. The Siyazenzela course focused on providing the young people with skills and opportunities to develop their personal insight together with valuable employability skills, transforming them into highly motivated students and capable future employees.

During the course, the students were led on a day trail in the uMngeni Valley, as environmental wellness forms an integral part of our youth development interventions; the healing aspect of nature is used as a vehicle to transform the lives of the youth. The beneficiaries were also taken on outings to the Flowe-Pac factory and the Hilton Quarry to tour manufacturing and recycling facilities.

After completing their course, all ten beneficiaries graduated at a memorable ceremony held at the Victoria Country Club on the 6th of December 2022; adding their names to the list of 94 beneficiaries of Wilderness Foundation Africa’s Youth Development Programme who graduated earlier this year.

Wilderness Foundation Africa would like to thank LC Supports Foundation and LC Packaging for enabling the ten young people to be part of this life-changing opportunity, since without funders like yourselves, we would not be able to continue implementing these youth development initiatives and transforming the lives of young South Africans.
